Cause
It is known issue DDOSCFD-25468, which results in SSHD restarting.
DDOSCFD-25468: The result of a code issue when SSH connections with invalid user or wrong passwords are received for SSH. Each TCP connection has multiple trials for wrong passwords. These connections are seen from automated applications.
Resolution
- The file system is not affected.
- Upgrade to 7.13.1.40 or later for the fix.
- Search /ddvar/log/debug/messages.engineerng for failed login attempts
- CLI Command: "log list" and "log view" commands
- Search messages.engineering for "Invalid user" and the IP address and port for any failed connection attempt can be found.
- When viewing the log, use the up and down arrows to scroll through the file. Use the q key to quit. Enter a forward slash to search forward or a question mark to search backward for a pattern such as a date.
- NFS export or CIFS share can also be used to view the file
/ddvar/log/debug/messages.engineering

- Identify client for the IP address reported in the log
- Work with the local system administators to identify the applications making the login attempt.
- Correct the credentials or stop the connections
