From Avamar in version 7.4.1, cloud tier migration with Data Domain (DD) is supported.

Avamar and Data Domain systems have flexible deployment options: 
  • Avamar Virtual Edition (AVE) and Data Domain Virtual Edition (DDVE): For small-scale environments, Avamar and Data Domain can be deployed on a virtualized environment. 
  • Avamar Data Store (ADS): Physical Nodes (Avamar Gen4, Gen4s, Gen4T, Gen5) 
  • Data Domain Systems: Physical Models 9500, 2500 and so on
  • A DDVE deployed on a virtual environment is an "on-premise deployment" 
  • A DDVE deployed on the cloud environment is an "in-cloud deployment" 
  • DDVE On-premise supports cloud tier feature.

  • Avamar (AVE or ADS) with Data Domain over WAN (DDVE on cloud, Avamar on-premise, or vice versa) is not supported and is not a recommended deployment method.
