Symptoms


Dette handler om problemer med VAAI UNMAP-plugin, sletningsstatus viser understøttes ikke:

[root@ESXi:/] esxcli storage core device vaai status get -d naa.<WWN>
   VAAI Plugin Name: VMW_VAAIP_CX
   ATS Status: supported
   Clone Status: supported
   Zero Status: supported
   Delete Status: unsupported <<<<<<<<<


The UNMAP feature became available for Unity arrays from VPLEX 6.0 Service Pack 1. So, must confirm if the VPlex is running on the correct version code that supports UNMAP.

But, when the VPlex is running on the version that supports the UNMAP feature for Unity, the UNMAP feature reports unsupported. The use of UNMAP is limited to Thin provisioned volumes. So, need to check if the the LUNs are thin provisioned or not:

Cause

Den version, der kører på VPlex, understøtter ikke funktionen "unmap" til Unity. 

ELLER

Hvis VPlex kører på den version, der understøtter UNMAP-funktionen til Unity, skyldes det, at LUN'erne er tykke klargjorte, eller LUN'erne er tynde klargjort på Unity, men tynd-aktiveret-funktionen på virtuel VPlex-diskenhed er deaktiveret.

Resolution

Hvis VPlex ikke kører på den version, der understøtter UNMAP-funktionen til Unity. Kunden skal opgradere VPlex til 6.0 SP 1, som understøtter tynd UNMAP.

Ellers kontrollerer VPlex:

1. kontrollere, om den lagerdiskenhed,

der leveres til VPlex, er tynd i stand til:

3. Aktivér den tynde funktion på den virtuelle diskenhed, hvis den er deaktiveret:

4. Scan storage på ESXi-server. Det kan gøres både via kommandolinje og VCenter.

5. Kør kommandoen storage core path mod VPlex virtual-volume Naa id i :

6. Før du opretter partition eller datalager på diskenheden, kan ESXi ikke få status for Thin Provisioning for den pågældende diskenhed, og derfor rapporteres det stadig, at funktionen ikke understøttes:

7. Opret datalager på diskenheden, eller opret partitionstabellen for diskenheden manuelt, status for thin provisioning ændres til yes, og unmap skifter til "understøttes".
