Symptoms


Trata-se de um problema de plug-in UNMAP do VAAI. O status de exclusão mostra que não há suporte:

[root@ESXi:/] esxcli storage core device vaai status get -d naa.<WWN>
   VAAI Plugin Name: VMW_VAAIP_CX
   ATS Status: supported
   Clone Status: supported
   Zero Status: supported
   Delete Status: unsupported <<<<<<<<<


The UNMAP feature became available for Unity arrays from VPLEX 6.0 Service Pack 1. So, must confirm if the VPlex is running on the correct version code that supports UNMAP.

But, when the VPlex is running on the version that supports the UNMAP feature for Unity, the UNMAP feature reports unsupported. The use of UNMAP is limited to Thin provisioned volumes. So, need to check if the the LUNs are thin provisioned or not:

   Thin Provisioning Status: unknown <<<<<<< It means that the LUNs are thick provisioned





 

Cause

A versão em execução no VPlex não é compatível com o recurso "unmap" do Unity. 

OU

Se o VPlex estiver em execução na versão compatível com o recurso UNMAP para Unity, a causa é que as LUNs têm provisionamento estático ou as LUNs têm provisionamento dinâmico no Unity, mas o recurso habilitado para thin no volume virtual do VPlex está desabilitado.

Resolution

Se o VPlex não estiver em execução na versão compatível com o recurso UNMAP para Unity. O cliente deve fazer upgrade do VPlex para a versão 6.0 SP 1, que é compatível com UNMAP dinâmico.

Caso contrário,

verifica o VPlex :

1. Verifique se o volume de armazenamento provisionado para o VPlex é compatível com thin:

2. Verifique se o recurso dinâmico ativado no volume virtual do VPlex está ativado:

3. Ative o recurso thin no volume virtual, se ele estiver desabilitado:

Verificações no ESXi : 

4. Verificar o armazenamento no servidor ESXi. Isso pode ser feito tanto via linha de comando quanto pelo VCenter.

6. Antes de criar uma partição ou um datastore no volume, o ESXi não consegue obter o status de provisionamento dinâmico para esse volume, portanto, ele ainda relata que o recurso não é compatível:

7. Crie um datastore no volume ou crie manualmente a tabela de partição para o volume. O status de provisionamento dinâmico mudará para sim e unmap "mudará para compatível".

. Depois de executar as etapas acima, se o ESXi ainda não atualizar o status de desmapeamento, verifique o KBA da VMware e investigue no ESXi.
