Resolution
The policy viewer must be enabled in the policy settings to generate the dump files.
- To enable the policy log dump, add the following registry setting:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon\CMGShield]DumpPolicy=REG_DWORD:1
- Updating the registry value does the following:
- Force a policy proxy to send a full packet on reboot.
- Update the export policy to a log file.
- The policy file name and location:
C:\CMG_policy_current.dat and C:\CMG_policy_new.dat
- The log file shows the following information:
- Policy load information including
- Last time a managed user logged on
- The last policy update
