- The general release for Dell Data Protection| Encryption v8.4 has the Shield for Windows client version 8.3.3. Customers may ask about the mismatch version number after the endpoint is successfully updated and expect the version to display at 8.4. Inform the customer that their client version number is correct as 8.3.3.
The Dell Data Protection | Encryption v8.4 release has the following two version numbers:
- General release version 8.4
- Shield for Windows 8.3.3
- Customers familiar with installing Dell Data Protection | Encryption may notice the installer name change from DDPE_32bit.exe or DDPE_64bit.exe to the new name Dell Data ProtectionEncryption_32bit.exe or Dell Data ProtectionEncryption_64bit.exe.
Note: This has been resolved in Dell Data Protection | Encryption v8.9 and newer.
