This article lists the default console settings within the following switch series:
PowerConnect 2700, 2800, 3400, 3500, 5400, 5500, 6200, 7000, 8000, 8100
X Series : X1000 , X4000
Chassis Series : m6220, m6348, m8024, m8024-k, MXL, IOA , FN410D, FN410T, FN2210S , C9010
N Series Campus OS6 : N1500, N2000, N3000, N4000
ON Series : N1100-ON, N2100PX-ON, N3100PX-ON, N3000E-ON, S3048-ON, S4048-ON , S4100-ON, S4810-ON, S5000-ON, S5100-ON, S5200-ON, S6000-ON, Z9100-ON, Z9200-ON
S Series Force10 OS9 : S25, S50, S55, S60, S4810, S4820, S5000, S6000

This article assumes the user has the following:
Appropriate Console cable for the switch
A terminal server, USB to Serial Converter, or a serial port
Terminal emulator that has access to using the serial interface

Z Series Force10 OS9: Z9000, Z9500
Set the data rate to 9600 baud
Set the data format to 8 bits , stop bits to 1 , and no parity
Set flow control to none
The
S4048-ON Switch has different default settings for Micro USB console and RS-232 console.
Micro USB:
data rate to 9600 baud
data format to 8 bits, stop bits to 1, no parity
flow control to none
RS-232 console :
data rate to 115200 baud
data format to 8 bits, stop bits to 1, no parity
flow control to none
Chassis Series: FN410D, FN410T, FN2210S ON Series: N1100-ON, N2100PX-ON, N3100PX-ON, N3000E-ON, S3048-ON, S4048-ON, S4100-ON, S4810-ON, S5000-ON, S5100-ON, S5200-ON, S6000-ON, Z9100-ON, Z9200-ON
Set the data rate to 115200 baud
Set the data format to 8 bits , stop bits to 1 , and no parity
Set flow control to none
Note: Under Properties, select VT100 for Emulation mode. Many emulators use this by default, and the location of this setting will vary based on terminal emulator you are using.
