Upgrading with Solidigm P5316 Drives

OneFS Upgrade

Perform the upgrade in a rolling manner, one node at a time:

  • Start the upgrade on the first node:
isi upgrade cluster start --install-image= --node= --parallel
  • Check the drive status on the upgraded node:
    isi devices drive list --node-lnn=
  • If any drives show a SED_ERROR state, stop immediately and contact support quoting this knowledge base document.
  • If all drives are HEALTHY, upgrade the next node:
    isi upgrade add nodes --nodes=
  • Repeat the process for each node with P5316 drives
  • After all nodes with P5316 drives are upgraded, run:
    isi upgrade add-remaining-nodes

Node Firmware Upgrade

Perform the upgrade in a rolling manner, one node at a time:

  • Start the upgrade on the first node:
isi upgrade cluster firmware start --fw-pkg= --nodes-to-upgrade= --parallel
  • Check the drive status on the upgraded node:
    isi devices drive list --node-lnn=
  • If any drives report SED_ERROR, stop and contact support immediately.
  • If the drives are reported as HEALTHY, upgrade the next node.  Repeat the process for each node with P5316 drives
  • After all nodes with P5316 drives are upgraded, run:
isi upgrade cluster firmware start --fw-pkg= --nodes-to-upgrade= --parallel

Drive Firmware Upgrade

If the cluster is running OneFS 9.5.1.4, 9.7.1.8, 9.10.1.3 or 9.12+ you can proceed as normal with the drive firmware upgrade.

If you are running any other version of OneFS, proceed with the following steps:

Perform the upgrade in a rolling manner, one drive at a time:

  • Get the list of drives to update firmware:
isi devices drive firmware list --node-lnn=
  • Upgrade the drive firmware, one drive at a time:
isi devices drive firmware update start --node-lnn= --bay= --force
  • Monitor the upgrade progress:
isi devices drive firmware update view --node-lnn=
  • Check the drive status:
    isi devices drive list --node-lnn=
  • If any drives show a SED_ERROR message, stop immediately and contact support for assistance.
  • If the drives all show HEALTHY, upgrade the remaining drives:
isi devices drive firmware update start --node-lnn= --bay=all
