Symptoms
A missing sudusers file entry for secure_path presents itself with the failure errors:
"disk.EnableUUID=TRUE is not enabled" and "Failed to map filesystem" in the service plan events.
After having successfully pushed the AppSync Plugin to a Red hat Linux host with a SUDO User, a service plan failed with the following events:
Application mapping,disk.EnableUUID=TRUE is not enabled for the virtual device
Application mapping,"Storage for /filesystemabc could not be mapped to replication storage or the selected replication preference is not possible. Verify if all VNX, VNXe, Unity, VMAX, ViPR, XtremIO, SMI-S Provider, VPLEX Cluster and RecoverPoint storage systems are correctly configured and discovered. For snapshot replications, verify if all VNX, ViPR, VNXe, Unity and VMAX LUNs in the service plan are pool LUNs, not RAID LUNs. For repurposing, either this storage is not supported or verify that you selected a valid replication technology for your application storage.",

The AppSync plugin log shows the following for each logical volume on the host:
acputil.py[576]:execute() Running command: lvdisplay -c /dev/mapper/xxx
host.py[4269]:doesVgExist() Could not find the proper vgname..
host.py[4269]:doesVgExist() Could not find the proper vgname..
Please note that the error regarding "disk.EnableUUID=TRUE" is present on physical and Virtual VM machines. Since this variable is only pertinent to Virtual VM machines, this error is misleading and not related to this specific occurrence, other than the presence of the message.
Cause
Per the AppSync plugin log message: Could not find the proper vgname , AppSync was unable to determine the volume group name for the logical volume while running the lvdisplay command.
In the specific occurrence that was encountered for this article, the cause was found to be a missing secure_path variable in the sudoers file on the Red Hat Linux host.

Resolution
Per step 4 of the AppSync 3.0.1 Installation and Configuration Guide:
Ensure that the secure_path variable is set to default.
Defaults secure_path = /sbin:/bin:/usr/sbin:/usr/bin
Please note, this is step 5 in the AppSync 3.0.2 Installation and Configuration Guide.
