Symptoms

uemcli -d <IP address> -u admin -securepassword /stor/config/profile -traditional -configurable show -storProfile tprofile_1, tprofile_19 -type traditional

Cause

The traditional pool creation from GUI is not achievable from Dell EMC Unity OE code 5.2.0, the same can be configured only via CLI method using uemcli.

Resolution

As a first step, traditional pool with only flash drive or highest available tier (drive type) should be configured, once the pool has been successfully created it can be expanded further from Unisphere with either SAS or NL SAS disk.

Steps to configure traditional pool via CLI:

  1. uemcli /stor/config/dg show      >>Shows the Disk Groups available in the system
  2. uemcli /stor/config/profile -traditional -configurable show >> Shows the profiles available in the system
  3. uemcli -d <IP Address> -u Local/admin -p <Password> /stor/config/pool create -name <Pool Name> -diskGroup <disk_group> -drivesNumber < drive_number > -storProfile tprofile_x -type traditional
