Connectrix: Cisco: Clear Zoning Configuration using CLI
Summary: The steps below detail the process of clearing all zoning configurations on an MDS switch.
Instructions
The MDS configuration contained zones configuration on default VSAN 1.
In this case the required action was to clear zone configuration from the default VSAN.
The steps below detail the process of clearing all zoning configurations on an MDS switch, including: fcaliases, zonesets and zones.
If you wish to remove individual zones from a zoneset then refer KB 517042 : Cisco: How to deactivate and remove a zone using CLI https://support.emc.com/kb/517042
Note: Ensure this is a correct VSAN. Remember all fabric will be affected by this change in case the switch is not a standalone switch.
- Firstly determine the names of the active zonesets for a VSAN.
MDS-9148# show zoneset active | inc zoneset
zoneset name vsan1_ZS vsan 1
- Deactivate the zoneset vsan1_ZS on VSAN 1:
MDS-9148# conf t
MDS-9148(config)# no zoneset activate name vsan1_ZS vsan 1
Enabled enhanced zone mode will require commit after changes done:
MDS-9148(config)# zone commit vsan 1
Commit operation initiated. Check zone status
- Remove the zonset vsan1_ZS from the configuration:
MDS-9148(config)# no zoneset name vsan1_ZS vsan 1
For enabled enhanced zone mode:
MDS-9148(config)# zone commit vsan 1
MDS-9148(config)# show zoneset active
Zoneset not present
-
Clear all the zones from the database associated with VSAN 1:
MDS-9148# clear zone database vsan 1
For enabled enhanced zone mode:
MDS-9148(config)# zone commit vsan 1
MDS-9148(config)# show zone
Zone not present
MDS-9148# show fcalias
