Symptoms
When the PSU power is removed, an alert occurs, which throttles the CPU as expected. However, after the PSU is reinserted, the SMB alerts are not cleared, causing the CPU throttling to continue.
This issue is observed with two Power Supply Unit (PSU) configurations. (Redundancy Policy - A/B Grid Redundant)
The issue is observed only when one PSU is removed and inserted back into the server.
A reduction in CPU performance and network bandwidth is anticipated with the loss of a PSU.
Cause
iDRAC10 firmware is not clearing the SMB alert.
Resolution
Fixed in iDRAC10 firmware version 1.10.17.00
Workaround:
Perform an AC power cycle or Virtual AC cycle.
