Symptoms

Laptop LCD flickers when the brightness changes on-screen

 

The laptops Quad High-Definition Plus (QHD+) LCD panel flickers when the brightness changes or any running video content is closed.

This affects the following laptops that ship with AMD Radeon Graphics:

  • Dell 14 DC14255
  • Dell 16 DC16255
  • Dell 16 DC16256
  • Dell Pro 14 Essential PV14255

Cause

The AMD Reply + Resynch mode causes the flickering to occur when the refresh rate rapidly changes between high and low.

Resolution

Note: Administrator rights are required on the laptop to make any operating system changes or update any software.
