Symptoms

PowerProtect Data Managerin avulla suojataan vSphere-ympäristö TSDM (Transparent Snapshot Data Mover) -ratkaisulla. vSphere Installation Bundle (VIB) otettiin onnistuneesti käyttöön klusterin ESXi-isäntiä vastaan. Virtuaalikoneen (VM) varmuuskopioinnit epäonnistuvat ajoittain, ja ABV0016 virhekoodi. PowerProtect Data Manager -käyttöliittymässä näkyy seuraavat:

ABV0016: VM Direct engine 'localhost' is unable to back up the virtual machine 'my-vm-name' on vCenter 'my-vcernter-name' because of a vCenter API issue.

The VM Direct engine cannot complete the backup of this virtual machine because of a vCenter API operation did not complete successfully.

To troubleshoot this issue: 1) Verify that the vCenter can be reached. 2) If the vCenter is busy, wait for some activities to complete and then retry the operation. 3) Verify that the virtual machine exists on the vCenter.

Cause

Ongelmallista virtuaalikonetta isännöivässä ESXi-hypervisorissa ei ole käynnistetty Data Protection Daemon (DPD) -palvelua. Ongelma ilmeni ajoittain, kun vMotion siirsi kyseisiä virtuaalikoneita ESXi-hypervisoriin pysäytetyn DPD-palvelun kanssa.

Resolution

Varmista, että DPD-palvelu on käynnistetty kaikissa klusterin ESXi-isännissä. Jos palvelu pysäytetään, valitse DPD-palvelu ja käynnistysvaihtoehto.

DPD-palvelu voidaan myös käynnistää uudelleen ESXi-isännän SSH-istunnon avulla. 
[root@my_esx:~] /etc/init.d/dpd status
dpd is stopped
[root@my_esx:~] /etc/init.d/dpd start
