What does Field of View mean in Dell's ExpressSign-In utility?

Field of View (FOV) defines the distance and the angle that the proximity sensor can detect while the proximity feature is enabled. It includes two parts - range angle and range distance. To guarantee the best experience, the recommended distance between you and the laptop display should be 70 cm.

Note:

Range angle - The sensor can detect user presence or absence within a 27° conical range as defined by the center of the system where the IR camera is located.

Range distance - The sensor can detect user presence or absence <100 cm away.

Expected range angle and distance

(Figure 1 - Expected range angle and distance)

When you are not positioned in the FOV (for example Your sitting position is lower than the sensor detection range), it would cause a false detection to take place and would result in a sign-in failure.
