VxRail: Come aggiornare manualmente l'appliance vSAN Witness utilizzando la CLI

Procedura:

  1. Scaricare il pacchetto composito di aggiornamento VxRail che corrisponde al codice VxRail di aggiornamento. Estrarre l'aggiornamento ESXi depot.zip dalla cartella dei pacchetti compositi di aggiornamento di VxRail.

  1. Caricamento dell'aggiornamento ESXi depot.zip Dall'aggiornamento del pacchetto composito a /scratch di witness utilizzando SFTP.
  2. Portare Witness in modalità di manutenzione.
  3. Accedere tramite SSH all'appliance Witness
  4. Ottieni i profili disponibili su caricato .depot.zip con il comando:
esxcli software sources profile list --depot='path/to/esxi/.zip'

  1. Il profilo no-tools è richiesto in quanto richiede meno spazio e VMtools non è richiesto su un appliance witness in quanto non può eseguire VM.
  2. Eseguire il comando:
esxcli software profile update -p 'name of image profile' --depot='path/to/esxi/.zip'

esxcli software profile update -p ESXi-7.0U3g-20328353-no-tools --depot=/vmfs/volumes/61f8cb7a-94b3a685-a859-005056810acd/VMware-ESXi-7.0U3g-20328353-depot.zip
Update Result

Nota importante:
  • Riavviare il witness.
  • Rimuovere l'upgrade caricato depot.zip dal /scratch partizione.
rm path/to/esxi/.zip

Esempio:

rm /vmfs/volumes/61f8cb7a-94b3a685-a859-005056810acd/VMware-ESXi-7.0U3g-20328353-depot.zip
rm: remove '/vmfs/volumes/61f8cb7a-94b3a685-a859-005056810acd/VMware-ESXi-7.0U3g-20328353-depot.zip'? y

(note scratch is a symlink to a UUID, your scratch partition UUID is different from the example)
  • Dopo che il witness è stato riavviato in modalità di manutenzione, verificare che la build ESXi witness rifletta la versione aggiornata desiderata della build ESXi. Verificare che la build sia uguale agli host VxRail o alla versione ESXi del codice di aggiornamento di VxRail.
