I peer MC-LAG devono essere in modalità attiva o in modalità standby. Attivo o Standby è il concetto di piano di controllo. Tuttavia, nel data plane, ogni peer MC-LAG determina singolarmente il percorso di inoltro dei dati indipendentemente dal ruolo.

 

Il ruolo MC-LAG è determinato dal peer in base all'indirizzo source-ip IPV4 e peer-ip configurato.

  • Se l'ip di origine è inferiore all'ip peer, l'unità diventa Attiva
  • Se l'ip di origine è maggiore di peer-ip, l'unità diventa standby

 

NOTA: Il ruolo Attivo o Standby è indipendente dallo stato operativo Peer o dallo stato di connessione peer-link. Se il peer MC-LAG attivo è in fase di riavvio, lo standby non diventa attivo e viceversa.

 

Ad esempio: Si supponga che lo switch-1 utilizzi l'IP di origine 10.0.0.1 e che Switch-2 abbia l'IP di origine 10.0.0.2.

Poiché switch-1 ha un source-ip inferiore (10.0.0.1) rispetto all'ip peer (10.0.0.2), assume il ruolo attivo.

Poiché switch-2 ha un valore source-ip (10.0.0.2) più elevato rispetto all'ip peer (10.0.0.1), assume un ruolo di standby.
