Intel Rapid Storage Technology Application Fails to Launch and IRST Driver Fails to Install When the Operating System is Installed under AHCI Mode

Symptoms

A failure message may show when launching the IRST application under SATA operation in AHCI mode. The IRST driver installation may also fail.

Cause

From Intel Alder Lake (ADL) processor, the IRST driver uses the volume management device (VMD) structure with RAID On mode. For AHCI mode, it uses the Microsoft Native Driver.

Resolution

Do not install the IRST driver on AHCI mode. It uses Windows Operating System native driver to support if the SATA operation mode is AHCI.
