NetWorker: DD Cloud Tier Device Creation Fails with SSL Peer Certificate Error

Symptoms

Attempts to create a Cloud Tier device fail with the following error message:

Unable to send a request: SSL peer certificate or SSH remote key was not OK

Additional log messages may include:

  • 5045-ddcl_get_fisl_config_by_conn: get_fisl_config not supported on DDR_hostname
  • 5002-Storage Unit List of size 7 does not fit into supplied buffer of size 1
  • Unable to perform authentication for host, user and, port : Unable to send a request: SSL peer certificate or SSH remote key was not OK ()

Cause

This issue occurs due to an incompatibility between:

  • libddboost version 7.13.0.0
  • DDOS version 7.10.1.40

The older DDOS version does not support the newer libddboost library, resulting in SSL handshake failures during device creation.

Resolution

Upgrade the DDOS version on the target Data Domain system to 7.13.x or later to ensure compatibility with libddboost 7.13.0.0.
