Symptoms
Sometimes, SnapshotDelete fails to clean up all deleted snapshots. This prevents the space used by the snapshots from being freed.
A message similar to one of the following is logged in the isi_job_d.log or messages log:
Coordinator took longer than 30 seconds to read 0 snapshots; subsequent SnapshotDelete jobs will work on remaining snapshots.
Found more than 1000 snapshots to be deleted; subsequent SnapshotDelete jobs will work on remaining snapshots.
Cause
For the first message, the job coordinator may time out while getting the list of deleted snapshots, causing the SnapshotDelete job to not delete any snapshots.
For the second message, the SnapshotDelete job can only delete 1000 Snapshot per run. If there are more than 1000 snapshots to delete, the Cluster queues up additional SnapshotDelete jobs to run until all snapshots pending deletion are deleted.
Resolution
The solution is to run additional SnapshotDelete jobs until all snapshots pending deletion are removed from the cluster.
