Change the Root Account Password for Linux®.
NOTE:
Nothing will be displayed when you type the password. If the password is invalid, a warning message with an explanation will be displayed. The root account, however, does not have to comply with password requirements.

- Log in using the root account password.
- From the command line, type passwd and then press the <Enter> key.
- At the New password: prompt, type the new password and then press the <Enter> key.
- At the Retype new password: prompt, retype the password and then press the <Enter> key.
The password change is complete when the passwd: all authentication tokens updated successfully message appears
