The steps below guide you through compiling the driver for the Mellanox ConnectX-6 Dx Network Card on Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) operating system
For this demonstration, we are using a PowerEdge R650 server running Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 7.9.

Kernel Version: 3.10.0-1160.el7.x86_64
We installed Mellanox ConnectX-6 DX Ethernet Adapter Firmware version 22.35.10.12.

Verify the supported Operating System and Driver with this firmware version.
Let us check the installed Mellanox firmware and driver version on this server.
We have the default inbox Mellanox driver, mlx5_core version
5.0-0, installed.
Installed Firmware version
22.35.10.12
We downloaded the Mellanox Linux Drivers and Install Script version
5.7-1.0.2.0 which is certified with this firmware version and pushed the package in the /tmp directory for.

Create a local YUM repository or connect using online Red Hat repository to install the below Packages required for the driver compilation.
# yum groupinstall "Development Tools" # yum install kernel-devel-$(uname -r) Run the below command to extract the tar package # tar -xvf MLNX_OFED_SRC-5.7-1.0.2.0.tar
Navigate to the extracted folder and perform the installation script.
Select the required options for Installation as per your requirement. In-case if any dependency files are missing you.
May have install those and start the installation process again.
All the RPM packages for this kernel have been created and are available in the directory listed below.
Restart the server and check the installed driver package.
