Symptoms
Unable to install EMC PowerPath version 6.1, it is new installation.
When customer tried to install PP 6.1, it returned error:
Prerequisite installation failed. Installation cannot continue.
Cause
Resolution
1. On PP 6.1, PowerPath installation path has changed to
3. backup register key, and set the value under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\Installer\Products\c1c4f01781cc94c4c8fb1542c0981a2a\SourceList\Net\
1) C:\ProgramData\EMC\PowerPath\Package Cache\2933148C-1D4C-4B4F-9B0D-1E50C6E01544v6.1.0\current\vcredist_x64 --> For x64 bit OS
2) C:\Users\ADMDWI~1\AppData\Local\Temp\IXP000.TMP\
or
3) "Check for the key "c1c4f01781cc94c4c8fb1542c0981a2a" under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\Installer\Products\ on the problematic host. If one cannot be found, export the key from a good server and import it on the problematic one" and proceed with further steps.
4.Run PowerPath 6.1 setup.msi under folder C:\ProgramData\EMC\PowerPath\Package Cache\2933148C-1D4C-4B4F-9B0D-1E50C6E01544v6.1.0\current
5.Restart server.
C:\ProgramData\EMC\PowerPath\Package Cache\ instead of C:\Windows\Installer\
2. As workaround, customer can copy the file C:\ProgramData\EMC\PowerPath\Package Cache\2933148C-1D4C-4B4F-9B0D-1E50C6E01544v6.1.0\ from a good server to problematic server3. backup register key, and set the value under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\Installer\Products\c1c4f01781cc94c4c8fb1542c0981a2a\SourceList\Net\
1) C:\ProgramData\EMC\PowerPath\Package Cache\2933148C-1D4C-4B4F-9B0D-1E50C6E01544v6.1.0\current\vcredist_x64 --> For x64 bit OS
