Symptoms
Performing vProxy based SQL server transaction log backups fails. The backup session logs from the vProxy show the following messages:

master is a system database. Backup of database master will be skipped.
model is a system database. Backup of database model will be skipped.
msdb is a system database. Backup of database msdb will be skipped.
Recovery model of database User_Database_Name is simple. Backup of database User_Database_Name will be skipped.
tempdb is a system database. Backup of database tempdb will be skipped.
29211:msvmagent_appbackup: At least 1 valid backup target is required
Cause
Microsoft SQL does not permit transaction log backups on databases that are set to Simple Recovery mode. The backup is being marked as failed because there are no valid targets for a transaction log backups on this SQL Server.
Resolution
If the user created databases Recovery Model is changed, then SQL transaction log backups can be performed. Consult with the Database admin regarding changing the recovery model of the databases if transaction log backups are required. If there is a requirement for the databases to remain set in Simple Recovery mode, then only Full SQL backups can be run.
