PowerPath for Linux: error while loading shared libraries: libjson-c.so.2: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

Symptoms

The PowerPath/Linux host cannot get connected to PowerPath Management Appliance (PPMA) as the PowerPath Management service cannot get started as per the error:

Cause

This is due to libjson-c.so.2 libraries not being installed on the Linux host.

 

Note: In Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7.5, the json-c is not installed by default in the minimal install and it is advised to install the package separately.

 

Resolution

It is advised to install json-c libraries separately and start PowerPath Management service post which PowerPath/Linux host can get added to PPMA.
