Symptoms

The following alert is present in the PowerStore Manager user interface:
Replication Session External State For Volume (delete_failed) A replication session associated with resource could not be deleted because of error: Volume internal error 0x03 volume (id: rep shadow id). Error code: 0x01700409

An attempt to delete the volume generates the following error:
The Volume (id: ) cannot be deleted because it is in a replication session. (0xE0A080020005)

Cause

This has been seen on the destination or remote appliance after either of the following:
  • Replication removed without deleting the replication sessions.
  • Replication session was deleted on the source side at a time when there were communication issues between source and destination over the management network.

Resolution

This issue must be resolved by Technical Support. Contact Dell Technical Support or your Authorized Service Representative, and quote this knowledge base article ID.
