Symptoms

The voice recording duration on an Inspiron laptop may be incorrect when recorded using the Windows Sound Recorder. If recorded for 10 seconds, it may only contain a 2-3 second clip and have distorted noise when playback.

Cause

This is a Microsoft sound recorder issue, and the inbox player app has a performance issue with handling frame buffers.

Resolution

Updating the Windows Sound Recorder to version 11.2304.25.0 or later on the computer resolves the issue. To update the Windows Sound Recorder, go to Microsoft Store.
