Symptoms

Configuring ESRS or SCG failed with this error and is not able to configure using both customer's and support TSEs credentials.

Error:

Failed to register device to : Invalid username and/or password

Cause

Recently Dell retired this authentication process on the backend, it has been switched to the Access Key and PIN-based authentication.

If the customer is still on DDOS code that uses SRS, the username is the "Access key" and the password is the "PIN" in the registration steps.

Resolution

Note: Data Domain HA systems can not be configured for SRS with connectemc with an Access Key and PIN. System must be upgraded to DDOS 8.3.1.0, 7.13.1.40 or later to use ESE SupportAssist configuration.

For single node DDs, to resolve this issue, users must generate an Access Key and create a PIN by following the below steps:

  1. Search DD serial number in the Dell support site, and then click "Generate Access Key"

  2. If there is no existing access key, then click next

  3. Enter a 4-digit PIN (must save it for future reference), and click "create my access key," then it sends the access key to your email

    Username: Access Key
    Password: PIN

Enter Dell EMC Support password: <PIN>
