Symptoms
A message will be registered on the log as shown below filling switch buffer logs
General[procLOG]: l7_ns_mibs.c(XXXX) XXXXXXXX %% ERR truncating integer value > 32 bits
The impact will be the following one:
- There is no functional impact on the switch
- Wrong uptime is seen while polling for switch uptime.
- Log messages as shown below fills buffer logs
Mar 22 21:39:51 General[procLOG]: l7_ns_mibs.c(XXXX) XXXXXXXX %% ERR truncating integer value > 32 bits
Cause
- If the switches uptime is more than 497 days, this message would be output when snmp polling is done to bellow MIB or OID
SNMP MIB : agentInventoryUnitUpTime SNMP OID : 1.3.6.1.4.1.674.10895.5000.2.6132.1.1.13.2.2.1.14
- The reason for this log message is because MIB agentInventoryUnitUpTime is Counter32, which means it is a 32-bit integer counter. If 497 days of switch uptime is crossed, then its corresponding integer value exceeds 32 bit and hence value overflows.
Resolution
