VMAX: Dell Technologies Software License Key Regeneration Notification (Customer Correctable)

Customer receives a Dell Technologies Software License Key Regeneration Notification email.
Changing License file on VMAX3/VMAX AFA computers.

A Dell Technologies Software License Key Regeneration Notification email was recently sent to our customers.

The customers have below concerns about this email:

1. Let us know the meaning of the below email and why the original file has an error?
2. We cannot install this file until we have more details on the reason and why. Dell Technologies also has to confirm it is genuine.
3. The disclaimer section suggests that loading a new license file may require downtime, I need more information. 

The license file is being updated for some computers in order to support the My Usage Intelligence feature.

Affected customers have received the following message:

Subject: Dell Technologies Software License Key Regeneration Notification

Dear Customer,

As a result of processing Usage Intelligence data from your instance, we have discovered that an error occurred while processing your file. Upon further investigation, we found that your instance has an outdated license file which cannot provide the details necessary for reporting Usage Intelligence. Note: This error is related to Usage Intelligence data; your production and normal operations are not impacted.

The corrective action is to apply a new license file. We have proactively generated an updated license file (attached) to help expedite the resolution. If you are not the proper contact to install the new license file, forward this email to the proper resource or advisor who we should contact.

To answer the customer's concerns:

• Let us know the meaning of the below email and why the original file has an error?
  • The original file has no error. However, in order to benefit from the My Usage Intelligence feature. The existing license file must be updated.
• We cannot install this file until we have more details on the reason and why. Dell Technologies also has to confirm it is genuine.
  • The message is genuine. As mentioned above, the existing license file must be updated in order to benefit from the My Usage Intelligence feature.
• The disclaimer section suggests that loading a new license file may require downtime, I need more information.
  • For VMAX/VMAX3/VMAX AFA systems, activating the updated license file is transparent for the system and end user. It does not require any downtime.
