Instructions

A core file or core dump captures the state of the working memory of the Data Domain system at a specific time, generally when a program or service such as the file system crashes. Depending on the circumstances, a core file may not always be created.

Note: A Core file can be large and the system may take some time to create the file after the crash occurred.

In the latest releases of DDOS version 6.2.1.30 and later, the core dump can be split and collected directly from the Data Domain System Manger.

Steps to split and collect the core file:

  • Login to the Data Domain System Manager using admin credentials
  • Navigate to Maintenance, click Support and click Cores
  • In case the core file is big, it can be split into smaller chunks, select the core file, click on Split, select the size and the Unit (MiB/GiB)

  • The core dump splits into the mentioned chunks

  • Cores are generated successfully
  • Click on the file and download it to the local system
