A Dell está ciente das vulnerabilidades de análise de canais laterais, também conhecidas como Meltdown e Spectre, que afetam muitos dos modernos microprocessadores e que foram publicamente descritas por uma equipe de pesquisadores de segurança em 3 de janeiro de 2018. Nenhuma exploração do "mundo real" dessas vulnerabilidades foi relatada até o momento, embora os pesquisadores tenham produzido provas de conceito.
Orientação sobre o patch
Atualização de 11/10/2019:
Existem três componentes essenciais que precisam ser aplicados para atenuar as vulnerabilidades mencionadas acima:
- Aplique a atualização de microcódigo do processador por meio da atualização do BIOS listada na seção Produtos Dell afetados abaixo.
- Aplique o patch do sistema operacional apropriado. Consulte a seção Orientação sobre patches do sistema operacional abaixo.
- Nos sistemas aplicáveis, aplique o pacote de driver NVIDIA listado na seção Produtos de cliente da Dell com GPU NVIDIA abaixo. Nas plataformas que incluem o software GeForce Experience (GFE), o pacote de driver também incluirá a versão atenuada do GFE.
Os patches do sistema operacional fornecem atenuações ao Spectre (Variante 1) e o Meltdown (Variante 3). A atualização do driver NVIDIA fornece atenuação para o Spectre (Variante 1). A atualização do microcódigo é necessária apenas para o Spectre (Variante 2), CVE-2017-5715.
A Dell atualizará este artigo com informações à medida que elas se tornarem disponíveis, incluindo os produtos afetados e as etapas de correção.
A Dell recomenda que os clientes sigam as melhores práticas de segurança para proteção contra malware, em geral, a fim de proteger-se contra a possível exploração dessas vulnerabilidades. Essas práticas incluem adotar imediatamente as atualizações de software, evitar hiperlinks e sites não reconhecidos, não fazer downloads de arquivos ou aplicativos de fontes desconhecidas e seguir os protocolos de segurança para senhas. Os clientes também devem usar um software de segurança para ajudar a protegê-los contra malware (software avançado de prevenção de ameaças ou antivírus).

Os sistemas abaixo são afetados e receberão firmware com patch por meio da versão do BIOS da Dell (atualização do BIOS). O ThinOS, por design, é um sistema operacional "fechado", ou seja, somente o software fornecido pela Dell pode ser executado no ThinOS. Na versão 8.4, o ThinOS introduziu a verificação de assinatura digital para as atualizações ou pacotes de software. Nota: Quando seu computador não estiver listado em ESTE COMPUTADOR, você poderá tocar ou clicar em Fazer download e instalar o SupportAssist, que identificará automaticamente seu computador. Siga os prompts para fazer download e instalar o SupportAssist.
- Insira a Etiqueta de serviço, o ID do produto Dell EMC ou o Modelo e, em seguida, toque ou clique no botão Pesquisar e selecione seu computador na lista.
- Toque ou clique em Procurar todos os produtos: Você deve selecionar o tipo de dispositivo, o nome da marca e o modelo do produto.

- Toque ou clique na listagem do seu computador em ESTE COMPUTADOR.
