Why?

  • In preparation for a Steady State DDOS Upgrade with Remote Proactive, the DDOS Upgrade RPM must be downloaded and uploaded to each Data Domain Server that must be upgraded.
  • It is vital this is done before the upgrade date, otherwise the upgrade may need to be postponed.


How to Download the Upgrade RPM.


How to upload the upgrade RPM to /ddr/var/releases on your Data Domain Server.

  • The RPM can be loaded on to the Data Domain System using the System Manager UI.
  • Log in to the System Manager UI using an administrative account like sysadmin.

  • Make sure to choose the correct server from those displayed.
  • Go to the maintenance tab (Depending on the DDOS version the menu may be on the left or displayed across the top).
    • Example: 5.5.x.x System Manager:

  • Example: 5.7.x.x System Manager:
kA5j0000000TO9KCAW_1_8
  • Go to the section Upgrade Packages Available on the Data Domain System.
  • Click Upload Upgrade Package.
  • Go to where the RPM was downloaded on the computer.
  • Click OK to upload the RPM to the server (ddr/var/releases).
  • When finished uploading the RPM, it should now be displayed under the Upgrade Packages Available on the Data Domain System section.


Verify that the package was downloaded successfully.

  • Tick the box to the left of the file name. 
  • Click View Checksum. A box appears with a long string.kA5j0000000TO9KCAW_1_9
  • Compare the Checksum from the download with that of the one displayed in the Checksum box.
  • If they match, then the package was downloaded successfully.
  • If they do not match, then the package may not have been downloaded successfully. Download the Upgrade Package again.
