Instructions
As DDBEA is a plugin and it backups data to DD directly, it supports DD's automatic retention lock (ARL) and automatic lock delay.
The DDBEA backup generates two types of backup on DD:
- .ss file: This is the save set file which contains the backed-up data.
- .rec file: This is the index records meta data for the corresponding backup save set. The index recorded will be created when the backup started and updated after the backup is done.
As per its mechanism, it is required to have set automatic lock delay time longer than backup during. Otherwise, an automatic retention lock applies on both .ss and .rec file during the backup session, however, .rec file still requires modification and update until backup is done. ARL fails .rec file to be updated leading to the backup failure under such circumstances.
For example, if backup takes 1.5 h, it is suggested setting automatic lock delay to 2 h or longer.
