Resolution Steps:
Step 1: Enable Camera in BIOS.
Objective: Ensure that the camera is enabled at the hardware level.
Procedure:
- Restart or power on the computer
- Press F2repeatedly (once per second) when the Dell logo appears during POST
- Note: If the computer boots into Windows, restart and try again
- Navigate to Integrated Devices section
- Verify the checkbox next to Enable Camera is checked
- Click Apply Changes and confirm if prompted
- Click Exit to restart the computer
- Test camera functionality using the camera application.
Expected Outcome: The camera should be accessible if this was the issue.
Step 2: Configure Camera Privacy Settings.
Objective: Ensure that Windows permissions allow camera access.
Procedure:
- Press and hold the Windows (
) key, and then press the q key. - In the Search box, type camera privacy settings.
- Click or touch Camera privacy settings (System settings) in the list of programs.

Procedure:
- Press and hold the Windows (
) key, and then press the q key. - In the Search box, type camera.
- Right-click Camera (app), and then select app settings.
- Click or touch Repair, in the Reset section.
- When that does not correct the issue, click or touch Reset, in the Reset section, and then confirm that you want to reset the camera app by clicking or touching Reset.
- After the process finishes, close the Settings window.
- Check to see if you get the same error if so continue to the next step.
Expected Outcome: The camera app should function normally.
Step 4: Run Video Playback Troubleshooter.
Objective: Automatically detect and fix video-related issues Time Required: 5-10 minutes
Procedure:
- Press and hold the Windows (
) key, and then press the q key. - In the Search box, type troubleshooter.
- Click or touch Troubleshoot (system settings) in the list of programs.
- Under Other troubleshooters, click or touch Run, to the right of Video Playback, and then follow the prompts.
- After the troubleshooter finishes, close the Settings window.
- Check to see if you get the same error if so continue to the next step.
Expected Outcome: Windows will attempt to fix detected issues automatically.
Step 5: Manually Reinstall Webcam Drivers.
Windows 11 and Windows 10 provide native drivers for integrated webcams. If automatic driver installation fails, manually reinstall them.
Objective: Replace potentially corrupted drivers with fresh installation:
Procedure:
- Right-click the Windows icon and select Device Manager.
- Expand Cameras or Imaging Devices.
- NOTE: If these categories do not appear, the webcam is not being detected. Go to Step 9.
- Right-click Integrated Webcam or USB Camera.
- Select Uninstall device.
- Check the box Delete the driver software for this device (if available).
- Click Uninstall to confirm.
- Restart your computer.
- Windows will automatically detect and reinstall the webcam drivers during startup.
