Instructions
See the steps below for migration:
- Identify the protection group that must be migrated. The type should be storage policies. Note down the Virtual Machines count in protection group details. This information is required later.
- On the Virtual Machines tab, identify the VMs and the replicated devices that are protected.
- Note down the datastores of the replicated devices in Discover devices of Array Pair. This information is required later.
- Upgrade SRM to 8.5 as mentioned in VMware document: Update the Site Recovery Manager Virtual Appliance (vmware.com).

- Delete the protection group identified in step 1.
- Create a new protection group with Type Datastore groups and click Next.
- Select the datastores that are identified in step 3 and click Next.
- Add the new protection group to existing recovery plan and click Next.
- Click Finish to complete the process.
- Summary tab of new protection group shows type Datastore groups.
- VMs listed in Virtual Machines tab are the same as in step 2.
