Symptoms

An ICKDSF job fails with an ICK529I error message when any action on a volume such as REFVTOC or BUILDIX is performed.

ICK529I ALLOCATE FAILED RETURN CODE 0000

Cause

The IBM Address space DEVMAN is not up.

Resolution

Permanent Fix:

Start the IBM address space DEVMAN and verify it is active without any issues.
