Symptoms



BoostFS 1.2.0.1 and 1.3.0.0 mounted file system in Linux hangs and fails once a week 
BoostFS mounted file system used for Oracle hangs once a week.
ddfs.info shows errors 5040-out of free file buffers.
saving to BoostFS fails
The issue still happens after upgrading BoostFS 1.2.0.1 to 1.3.0.0.

Cause


This is a known code Data Domain bug.

Resolution

This is a known Data Domain Bug # 225893 and 247826. Please contact DellEMC Global Support for details.

Permanent Fix:  Install DDboostFS plugin version 1.2.0.2 which has the fix already. Bug # 247826 is open to fix the issue in 1.3.x.

Workaround Fix:
   
Disable detection for compressed files in BoostFs. There are two options to do this:
     
         1. The BoostFS detection for compressed files can be disabled by updating the config file with the following:
        
            nodsp.compression_check = 0
        
         2. The other option is to include them as part of the BoostFS mount command:
           -o nodsp.compression_check = 0 -o odsp.encryption_check = 0
