Síntomas

Creating a new datastore on an iSCSI connected ESXi host fails with error "Cannot change the host configuration. Failed to update disk partition for ..."

This happens on all PowerStore volumes.

Causa

Network misconfiguration, such as MTU mismatches between the ESXi hosts, switches, and the PowerStore, are known to cause this issue.

Resolución

A few options to resolve the issue:
  1. Ensure the ESXi hosts, Switches, and PowerStore all have valid and consistent MTU settings for the recommended MTU size of 9000.
  2. If this is not possible, change the ESXi host and the PowerStore storage network MTU to default 1500 (not recommended). Settings > Network IPs > Storage, select the relevant storage network then Reconfigure.
