VxRail: Two-Node Cluster Deployment Fails to Assign Storage Policy

During a two‑node VxRail cluster deployment the process cannot assign the storage policy to the virtual machine. The VxRail Manager reports that it cannot create the required three fault domains.

Symptoms observed:

• Deployment stops with a failure to assign the storage policy.
• Management network interface vmk0 shows an unexpected vSAN Witness tag.

-There is vSAN Witness Tag enabled on the management Network as well.
- VMK0 should only have on Tag which is the Management Network:

 

1. Run the command below to check for the tags associated with VMK0:
   esxcli network ip interface tag get -i vmk0
2. Run the command below to remove the VSAN witness tag:
   esxcli network ip interface tag remove -i vmk0 -t VSANWITNESS
3. Retry the configuration again now.
4. If the issue remains, refresh the VMK0 connection and retry the configuration again:
   esxcli network ip interface set -e false -i vmk0
esxcli network ip interface set -e true -i vmk0
