Avamar: SharePoint Backup Failed with Backend client mismatch detected

Symptomen

  • SharePoint backup fails with the following error:
avmossvss Error <0000>: The back-end plug-in on client SISPxxx (128.1.xx.xx) terminated with errorcode 10007: miscellaneous error.
avmossvss Error <0000>: The back-end plug-in on client SISPxxx (128.1.xx.xx) terminated with errorcode 10007: miscellaneous error.
avmossvss Error <0000>: The back-end plug-in on client SISPxxx (128.1.xx.xx) terminated with errorcode 10007: miscellaneous error.
 
  • From the backup log in the shared var directory on the SQL client, the following events may be displayed:    
[mossvss_assist]  Checking local hostname: CLCLU001-ISPxxx with received hostname: SISPxxx
    avmossvss Error <18823>: Backend client mismatch detected. If this is a cluster environment make sure that the cluster agent is correctly configured.

Oorzaak

  • The cluster client is configured as a SQL cluster client instead of SharePoint.
  • The local hostname is different than the received hostname.

Oplossing

  • Reconfigure the Backup Agent of the cluster client using the Cluster client configuration tool with the SharePoint plugin chosen instead of the SQL plugin. 

 

  • Go to the local var folder on the SQL backend client, which is usually the C:\Program Files\avs\var directory.
    • Using Notepad or another text editor, create the avmossvss.cmd file.
    • Add the following flag to map the correct hostname:
--static-hostname-list=<<SQL Alias name>>(local hostname of SQL back-end)

Example:

--static-hostname-list= SISProd(CLCLU001-ISProd)
