NVP vProxy: SQL Server 2022 VM backups fail with "'Unable to log in to SQL Server instance. Error Code 1359.'"

• SQL Server 2022 app consistent backups (MSVMAPPAGENT) have been configured using the NetWorker VMware Protection (NVP) vProxy appliance.
• The VM backup fails with the following error logged in the VM backup session log:

The NetWorker VMware Protection (NVP) vProxy solution does not support SQL (MSVMAPPAGENT) backups of SQL server 2022.

58266: NVP App Consistent for SQL Server is not supported for SQL Server 2022 and Windows 2022. 

Request For Enhancement (RFE) NW-I-2427 was submitted requesting MSVMAPPAGENT support for Windows Server 2022 and SQL server 2022. Contact your Dell Site Account or Sales Team to track this RFE.

Workaround:

Install the NetWorker client and NetWorker Module for Microsoft (NMM) packages on the SQL Server 2022 machine. Both packages should be a minimum of 19.7.0.x. SQL backups can be obtained using the NMM client software.
