Dell Networking Edge Gateway Windows Out of Box setup errors

Symptomen

When booting the Edge Gateway running Windows for the first time, it will not be possible to do the initial setup. In such cases the device may show the following error:

Oorzaak

This error message is a result of a certain registry bit being flagged incorrectly.

Oplossing

To recover from this error:
  1. Open the command prompt using "Shift" + "F10" keys
  2. Start the "Registry Editor" by typing: "regedit" and pressing enter.
  3. In regedit, navigate to the following object 
    1. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\Setup\Status\ChildCompletion
    2. Edit setup.exe
    3. Change "Value Data" from 1 to 3
  4. Once edits are done click "OK" to save changes

  1. Close Regedit and reboot system from command prompt with:  
    1. shutdown /r
Upon reload it restarts the out of box setup process.
