NVP vProxy: Does vProxy Support Backup or Restore of VMware Templates

VMware Virtual Machine (VM) template backup or restore is not supported through NetWorker. The NetWorker VMware Protection (NVP) solution uses VMware snapshot technology to backup a Point-in-Time copy of the VM and its files. It is not possible to create VMware snapshots of VM templates.

In order to backup a VM template, it must first be converted to a Virtual Machine. After converting the template, you can backup the VM, then convert the VM back to a template.

In order for NetWorker to support VMware Template backups you must contact your Dell account or sales representative regarding a Request For Enhancement (RFE).
