Avamar: Platform Security Rollup Troubleshooting
Summary: This article provides some troubleshooting tips if issues are encountered during an Avamar platform security rollup.
Instructions
For Security Rollups using the Avamar Installation Manager:

2. If there is a virtual accelerator in the grid that experiences problems in the MC client file browser:
a. Connect to the accelerator node using ssh.
b. Disable the firewall:
service avfirewall stop
3. If the installation pauses at task "OsRollupUpdateKernel" and reports the error "Security Rollup were not able to free enough space in /boot partition for installing kernel patches. Please do not remove running kernel and GRUB files and contact the Support Team for help.":
DO NOT remove the running kernel or GRUB files.
a. Collect the logs from the node reporting the error:
getnodelogs
b. Log in to the Avamar Utility Node node as admin, elevate to root, and collect the root bash history:
history > root-bash-history.txt
c. Create a Service Request for assistance (providing the files collected from a and b above).
4. If the installation pauses at task "BootSpaceCheck" and reports the error: "The /boot partition usage is 100%, cannot proceed with rebooting. Please try to remove *kdump and *.gz from /boot to make space. Don't remove the GRUB directories, the running kernels or the newest kernel files (except the kdump or gz files).":
DO NOT remove the running kernel or GRUB files.
a. Collect the logs from the node reporting the error:
getnodelogs
b. Log in to the Avamar Utility Node node as admin, elevate to root, and collect the root bash history:
history > root-bash-history.txt
c. Create a Service Request for assistance (providing the files collected from a and b above).
5. If the installation pauses at task "BootFilesCheck" and reports the error "Failed to check boot files":
DO NOT remove the running kernel or GRUB files.
a. Collect the logs from the node reporting the error:
getnodelogs
b. Log in to the Avamar Utility Node node as admin, elevate to root, and collect the root bash history:
history > root-bash-history.txt
c. Create a Service Request for assistance (providing the files collected from a and b above).
For Security Rollups using the command line:
If the installation stops with error "Security Rollup were not able to free enough space in /boot partition for installing kernel patches. Please do not remove running kernel and GRUB files and contact the Support Team for help."
DO NOT remove the running kernel or GRUB files.
