Setting up a
Source Catalog from the DRM welcome page
In case, you
are using the Dell Repository Manager for the first time, you must
populate the database.
You can select
one of the following options:
Sync Database with Dell Online Catalog
Sync Database with Local Source Catalog
NOTE: Local Source
catalog is used when the Dell Online Catalog has been copied to a
local location.
To set up a source catalog:
Launch the Dell Repository Manager.
NOTE: The check box allows you to opt for the option to Display
the Welcome tab at application startup.
In the Getting Started section, you have the option to Populate the Database and Create a New Repository. There are two
different ways to populate the database.
Sync Database with Dell Online
Catalog — You can populate the DRM database with the help
of the latest Dell Online catalog. If you have updated to the latest
DRM version on a system (that had DRM v1.5 or greater), you can sync
the database and update it to the latest version of the catalog using
this feature.
Sync Database with Local Source
Catalog — If you have a local copy of the Dell Online
Catalog, which can be accessed by DRM (from Application > Settings > Source Repository), then use this option
to populate the DRM database.
Create a New Repository — The New Repository wizard helps you with the options to create
repertories using DRM.
On the Welcome window,
you can view New Dell Online in the upright
corners, if the latest Dell online catalog is available. Click New Dell Online.
You can populate the DRM database with the help
of latest Dell Online Catalog.
DRM dialog box is displayed.
It may take few seconds before it proceed further. It displays the
following status:
Reading Catalog
Writing data to database
Archiving files
Checking for any errors
You can click Cancel anytime,
to exit without making any changes.
NOTE:Archiving files option appears if there is a change in
the local source catalog file.
