Older HealthCheck versions contain a defect that can trigger Internet Control Message Protocol (ICMP) pings to SyncIQ targets that never stop. When this occurs, a new ping process is started for each time the check runs for every SyncIQ policy, and these processes continue indefinitely. Over time, these accumulated ping processes can generate a high volume of outbound network traffic from the PowerScale cluster.
