The BMC is an embedded controller that monitors system health parameters such as temperature, fan speeds, power status, and voltage. When the BMC becomes unresponsive or fails, the Data Domain system generates an alert.

Data Domain systems initiate a graceful shutdown if multiple disk failures occur and RAID reconstruction cannot proceed. This protective measure prevents potential data loss when RAID protection reaches a critical state.

Data Domain generates Serial Attached SCSI (SAS) or Multipath (MPATH) alerts when a link fails; missing connections, loss of redundancy, caused by incorrect or loose cabling or hardware faults.
