When a system drive fails in a traditional pool, a hotspare is used to copy customer data luns. Once the system drive is replaced, the system drive does not become available as a hotspare. This could lead to a hotspare rule failure as there is one less hotspare available.

Unity arrays running 5.3.0.0.5.120 code with SupportAssist enabled may experience an SP panic after being up for approximately 2 months with a two SCG configuration or after approximately 4 months with a single SCG configuration, or direct connect.

When uploading text files to Unity's FTP server, file formatting may become invalid due to the difference between Windows and Unix/Linux end-of-line (EOL) characters. Windows uses two characters, CR+LF while Unix/Linux only uses LF. By default, Unity's FTP server uses ASCII transfer mode and since Unity uses a Unix/Linux base, all EOL characters are converted to LF. This makes files appear to be broken when read from a Windows client. To avoid this behavior, files should be uploaded using bin transfer mode. This makes sure the file is transferred "as is" with no changes. This may also be helpful when transferring image, audio and video files as they also require binary mode to avoid corruption.

It has been observed that some Solid-State Drive (SSD) models may have their End-of-Life (EOL) flag set after accumulating a total power-on time of approximately 6.8 years or more. This flag indicates that the drive has reached the end of its expected lifespan and may no longer be supported or guaranteed to function reliably.

SPCv controller can hang in PHY_STOP (Physical Layer Stop) command with IOs. This can cause the SPCv controller to crash causing SP panic.

A system is either having its Management IP address configured during deployment or having the management IP address subnet changed. When a gateway is chosen, if the Subnet ID is used the Management IP configuration fails. This can occur either within Unisphere or at the command line. An error is seen about a failure to change the management IP configuration in Unisphere and also at the command line. Both Unisphere and the command line will be unable to be logged into. Access from ipmitool on either SP must be used to continue and resolve the issue.
