Removal
Base Cover
Identify the base cover highlighted in blue.
Loosen the captive screws that secure the base cover to the computer.
Pry open the base cover from the smart card reader slot at the bottom right side of the base cover.
Lift the base cover starting from the bottom edge and push it towards the rear to remove it from the computer.
Battery Cable
Identify the battery cable highlighted in blue.
Using the pull tab, lift up to disconnect the battery cable from the system board.
Press and hold the power button for 20 seconds to ground the system and remove residual static electricity.
SIM Card
Identify the SIM card highlighted in blue.
Gently slide left and flip the right edge to open the SIM cover. Remove the SIM.
SSD 2280 Secondary
Identify the solid state drive (SSD) highlighted in blue.
Use a plastic scribe to pry open the SSD door from its recess point.
Remove the screw that secures the thermal plate to the palm rest assembly.
Slide the SSD release latch to unlock the SSD module.
Remove the SSD module from the system.
Remove the screw that secures the SSD thermal plate to the SSD carrier.
Tilt at an angle and then slide to remove the SSD thermal plate from the SSD module.
Remove the SSD from the SSD carrier.
Battery
Identify the battery highlighted in blue.
Remove the screws that secure the battery to the system.
Lift the battery at an angle and slide the battery out of the system board.
Peel the plastic tape to release the battery cable from the battery.
The battery 180 degrees to remove the cable from the battery.
Unroute the cable from the routing guide in the battery.
Disconnect the battery cable from the connector on the battery.
Memory modules - Secondary
Identify the memory module highlighted in blue.
Pry the securing clips from both side of the memory module until the memory module pops up.
Remove the memory module from the memory module slot.
WLAN (Wireless Module)
Identify the wireless module (WLAN) highlighted in blue.
Remove the screw that secures the WLAN card bracket to the system board.
Remove the WLAN card bracket away from the WLAN card.
Disconnect the antenna cables from the WLAN.
Slide at an angle and remove the WLAN card from the connector on the system board.
WWAN (Wireless Module)
Identify the wireless module (WWAN) highlighted in blue.
Loosen the screw that secures the WWAN card bracket to the system board.
Lift the WWAN card bracket from the WWAN card.
Disconnect the antenna cables from the connector on the WWAN card.
Slide and remove the WWAN card from its slot on the system board.
SSD
Keyboard
Identify the keyboard highlighted in blue.
Turn over system and open the lid.
Using a plastic scribe, pry the top edge of the keyboard lattice starting from the recess points and working your way around.
the sides and bottom edge.
Remove the keyboard lattice from the keyboard.
Remove the screws that secure the keyboard to the palmrest.
Start by prying the bottom edge of the keyboard, then proceed along the left and right sides.
Remove the keyboard from the system.
Memory modules - Primary
Identify the memory module highlighted in blue.
Remove the screw that secures the memory shield in place.
Remove the memory shield by sliding it to the right side and lifting it up from the memory module.
Pry the securing clips from both side of the memory module until the memory module pops up.
Remove the memory module from the memory module slot.
Chassis Frame
Identify the chassis frame highlighted in blue.
Unroute the WLAN and WWAN antenna cables from the routing guide.
Remove the screws that secure the chassis frame to the computer chassis.
Remove the screws that secure the chassis frame to the computer chassis.
Remove the chassis frame from the computer while carefully unthreading the keyboard and backlight cables through the opening on the chassis frame.
Heat sink
Identify the heatsink highlighted in blue.
Disconnect the power adapter cable from system board.
Peel the power adapter cable from the heat sink assembly.
Disconnect the two fan cables from the connectors on the system board.
Loosen the captive screws that secure the heat sink assembly to the system board.
Peel the tape on heatsink.
Lift the heat sink assembly to remove it from the computer.
Use the alcohol pad to clean the heatsink (as shown in the video).
System board
Identify the system board highlighted in blue.
Turn the system over.
Disconnect the speaker cable and the SD card reader FPC from the connectors on the system board.
Turn the system over.
Peel the tape to access power button board FFC.
Remove the screws that secure the FPC beam connector(s) to the system board and the GPU card.
Remove the FPC beam connector(s) from the computer.
Remove the screw that secures the display cable bracket in place.
Remove the display cable bracket from the computer.
Peel the tape that secures display cable.
Remove the screws that secure the system board to the computer.
Pry the coin cell battery, located under the system board, from the palmrest while lifting the system board.
Remove the system board from the computer.
Flip the system board to 180 degrees.
Remove the type-C bracket from the system board.
Install
System board
Identify the system board location highlighted in blue.
Install the type-C bracket to the system board.
Flip the system board to 180 degrees.
Adhere the coin cell battery and install the system board on its slot on the palmrest.
Install the screws to secure the system board to the palmrest.
Adhere the display cable tape on the system board to secure the cable.
Install the display cable bracket on the display cable.
Install the screw to secure the display cable bracket to the system board.
Connect the FPC beam connector(s) on the system board.
Install the screws to secure the FPC beam connector(s) to the system board and the GPU card.
Turn the system over.
Connect the speaker cable and SD card reader FPC to the connectors on the system board.
Turn over system.
Heat sink
Identify the heatsink location highlighted in blue.
Apply a pea sized amount of thermal material as shown.
Align and insert the heat sink assembly into its slot on the computer.
Tighten the screws that secure the heat sink.
Adhere the tape on heatsink.
Connect the two fan cables to the connector on the system board.
Adhere the power adapter cable on the heat sink assembly.
Connect the power adapter cable to the connector on the system board.
Chassis Frame
Identify the chassis frame location highlighted in blue.
Install the chassis frame on the computer chassis.
Install the screws to secure the chassis frame to the system.
Install the screws to secure the chassis frame to the system.
Route the WLAN and WWAN antenna cables through the routing guide.
Memory modules - Primary
Identify the memory module location highlighted in blue.
Align the notch on the memory module with the tab on the memory module slot.
Press the memory module down until it clicks into place.
Install the memory shield and sliding it towards the left side of the system to cover the memory module.
Install the screw to secure the memory shield to the memory module.
Keyboard
Identify the keyboard location highlighted in blue.
Align with the tabs and place the keyboard on the palm rest.
Install the screws to secure the keyboard to the palmrest.
Align the keyboard lattice to its position on the keyboard.
Press the edges on the keyboard lattice until it clicks into place.
Close the lid and Turn over the system to access the keyboard and backlight cables.
SSD
WWAN (Wireless Module)
Identify the wireless module (WWAN) location highlighted in blue.
Align and slide the WWAN card to its slot on the system board.
Connect the white / grey to the ANT0.
Connect the blue to the ANT1.
Connect the orange to the ANT2.
Connect the black / grey to the ANT3.
Install the WWAN card bracket above the WWAN card to secure the antenna cables.
Tighten the screw to secure the WWAN card bracket to the system board.
WLAN (Wireless Module)
Identify the wireless module (WLAN) location highlighted in blue.
Insert the WLAN card into the connector on the system board.
Connect the black cable to the auxiliary (black triangle).
Connect the white cable to the main (white triangle).
Install the bracket to secure the WLAN antenna cables.
Install the screw to secure the WLAN card bracket to the system board.
Memory modules - Secondary
Identify the memory module location highlighted in blue.
Align the notch on the memory module with the tab on the memory module slot.
Press the memory module down until it clicks into place.
Battery
Identify the battery location highlighted in blue.
Connect the battery cable to the connector on the battery.
Route the battery cable through the routing guide on the battery.
Flip the battery to 180 degrees.
Adhere the plastic tape to secure the battery cable to the battery.
Install the battery onto its slot in the system.
Install the screws to secure the battery to the system.
SSD 2280 Secondary
Identify the solid state drive (SSD) location highlighted in blue.
Install the SSD onto its slot on the SSD carrier.
Install the SSD thermal plate above the SSD module.
Install the screw to secure the SSD thermal plate to the SSD module.
Install the SSD module in its slot on the computer.
Install the screw to secure the SSD module.
Slide the SSD release latch to lock the SSD module in place.
Close the SSD door until it clicks into place.
SIM Card
Identify the SIM card location highlighted in blue.
Slide the SIM card into the slot, and snap the cover down and slide to lock.
Battery Cable
Identify the battery cable location highlighted in blue.
Connect the battery cable to the connector on the system board.
Base Cover
Identify the base cover location highlighted in blue.
Slide the base cover into its slot until it clicks into place.
Tighten the captive screws to secure the base cover to the computer.
